PROFILE
Haus(2023)
Haus is a cinematic fashion visual series set in the intimate space of a home, exploring tension between figures and fashion. The project examines femininity, emotional distance, and shifting gazes through light and structured framing, revealing subtle narratives of human relationships. With a filmic sensibility, Jia interprets connection and separation into visual storytelling.
Blind Eyes (2024)
Blind Eyes reflects Jia’s ongoing engagement with cinematic imagery.
The project connects to her broader practice of merging cinematic influence with her distinct perspective, depicting subtle gestures and emotional atmospheres, drawing them into unresolved moments.
eMotion (2024)
Created in collaboration with dancers Jade and Timothee from the Alvin Ailey School in New york city, this series explores identity through movement, shadow, and physical connection.
Jia approaches the body as both subject and mirror, using dance to translate internal states into visual form. The performers’ shared choreography becomes a language of a resilience, embodying cycles of self questioning, a desire to confront personal limits and uncertainty.
Rooted in her ongoing investigation of personal growth, this project is a portrait of an unstable generation learning how to live with vulnerability, pressure, and expectation.
This work comes from Jia’s ongoing interest in cinematic imagery. Framed like a film still, the portrait captures a moment pulled from an unseen narrative.
Posture study 2025
This project explores the delicate relationship between color and the body inside a staged room. Jia captures the tension between control and awkwardness, freezing moments where posture feels both intentional and fragile. The figure moves like a sculptural form, held between balance and collapse, while bold color blocks turn the space into a surreal, suspended environment.
